Course Details

BA Arts and Humanities with Foundation Year

Course Description

BA Arts and Humanities is a four year extended degree. It is designed for applicants who do not currently meet the admissions criteria for direct entry to a degree and who can benefit from a programme that begins with a Foundation Year which provides intensive, well-structured support. The programme is part of the University’s commitment to inclusion and widening participation. This is reflected in the prioritisation of applicants (see entry criteria). The Arts and Humanities encompass a range of subject areas: from Classics to Cultural Studies; from Music to Modern Languages. Study in this area is interdisciplinary, enquiring and creative. It focuses on engaging with the world around us and investigating our relationship to history, society and culture. A degree in an arts and humanities subject allows you to enhance your critical thinking skills and develop a global and cultural awareness, in preparation for future employment in many different contexts. As a student at a prestigious research intensive university you will have access to all the facilities and wide-ranging opportunities you would expect from a Russell Group institution. What’s more, the Leeds curriculum means that, whatever your choice of subject, study at Leeds is a well-rounded educational experience and our Leeds for Life initiative encourages you to consider how to make the best use of your time here to progress your personal and professional development.
