The University of Hull understands that we play a leading role in teaching the leaders and professionals of the future within higher institutional learning. We also consume significant resources on campus, so we hope that the information on this website will assist students and staff in learning more about sustainability and what we can do together to improve our own and the University's sustainable performance. As a sustainable institution, we avoid compromising future generations' ability to access resources that we currently may be taking for granted via our day to day operations. We are committed to understanding our societal and environmental impacts, and work to benefit both. Sustainability is not a 'system'; it quite simply requires changing our way of thinking. At Hull, we have acknowledged this and are beginning to challenge the way we do things in an attempt to work across structures and substantiate sustainability principles in all we do. This is evident from how we innovatively build, to the way we manage. Still, we have much more to achieve. We are in a great position to bring about the changes required to become more sustainable thanks to the enthusiasm and support of students and staff. We will ensure this continues by taking sustainability seriously at all levels.
