Course Description

Computer science is the study of software, algorithms and their implementation in programs. The Department of Computer Science offers two programs of study leading to the Bachelor of Science degree. Computer science emphasizes the general usage and theory of computing and computers in systems and applications areas. Computer information systems provides more of an emphasis on the applications of the computer to problems in business and industry. The Graduate Program in Computer Science offers a comprehensive approach to the theory and application of computer science. The graduate of the program will have a thorough grounding in the theory of computing science and will have the ability to apply that knowledge to a variety of problem areas. Students in the program will also be exposed to a variety of analytical methods. Because there are many students returning to school, already in the workforce, the program is designed to accommodate both full and part-time students.
