Advanced Chemical Engineering MPhil

Course Description

Students initially take 2 compulsory chemical engineering modules (numerical methods and molecular aspects), 1 core chemical engineering module, and start 1 core management of technology and innovation (MoTI) module; in addition, students are expected to take 2 elective modules taught by other departments within the university; in the following term, students take 4 elective modules (1 of which is taken from the core chemical engineering modules) and complete the MoTI module; the taught material enhances basic knowledge on chemical engineering fundamentals, as well as offering experience of other science and business based disciplines; the MoTI module is compulsory, and comprises taught lectures as well as a group consultancy project for a UK company during this term; during March-August, students undertake a full-time research project within the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, which may include industrial collaboration.
