BA (hons) Childhood Youth and Education Studies with Placement

Course Description

The degree is delivered jointly by the Departments of Education and Psychology, providing you with a unique blend of social science modules that relate to the study of children and young people. This programme aims to: give you an in-depth understanding of the social and developmental contexts of childhood and youth explore government priorities relating to children's lives and wellbeing and how these link to integrated children's services and the role education plays in multi-agency working prepare you for a variety of careers relating to children, youth and family services, including teaching.

Career outcomes

The degree prepares you for employment within a range of services for children and young people, for example teaching, childcare, social work, youth work or special needs. It also enables you to work with non-governmental organisations whose concern is the welfare of children, their families and young people. Achieving a 2:1 or above will give you the opportunity to study for a higher degree and pursue an academic career in the social sciences.
