The Music Department at the University at Buffalo maintains and nurtures a commitment to creative and performing artists. Our undergraduate and graduate programs in Performance, Composition, Historical Musicology, Music Theory, and Music Librarianship attract students from across the globe, and our alumni have gone on to pursue thriving careers in North America and abroad. Our department presents over 150 concerts each year, with performances ranging from student ensembles to visiting artists of international renown. Furthermore, Western New York has a rich tradition of cultural activity with active arts communities in jazz and improvised music, film, poetry, and drama.
