Adv. Cert Assistive and Rehabilitative Technology

Course Description

The Advanced Graduate Certificate Program in Assistive and Rehabilitation Technology shares the education, research, and public service mission of the School of Public Health and Health Professions. Our program emphasizes a dynamic, problem-based approach to learning through classroom projects, community involvement, and exposure to current research literature. This program began in 1997 as part of a mission to educate practitioners and researchers who share a common professional interest in improving the independence and quality of life for people with disabilities who use assistive technology. We have drawn upon the existing strengths within the University, including those at the Center for Assistive Technology and the Departments of Architecture, Industrial Engineering, Physical Therapy, Communicative Disorders and Sciences and Social and Preventive Medicine. We have created an open, progressive atmosphere for therapists, engineers, special educators and others who share a common interest in learning the science and art of assistive technology research and service delivery for people with disabilities. It is a fertile environment that offers unique opportunities for personal growth and professional development.
