As a tertiary provider, UCOL acknowledges the strong and vibrant arts community in Whanganui. In early 2013 a community-based working party put significant energy and commitment into developing ideas for the future for fine arts and glass education and what this might look like. As a result, qualifications in glass of one, two and three year duration, and a three year applied arts Degree are being researched to determine whether they are feasible. If these were to proceed the qualifications could be available from 2015. UCOL continues to work in partnership with the Wanganui District Council on these matters. UCOL is still determining whether there will be new enrolments into the Diploma in Glass Design and Production and the four year Bachelor of Fine Arts for 2014. Students currently undertaking the three year Diploma in Glass Design and Production and the four year Bachelor of Fine Arts are not affected and are completing their studies. As research is underway to progress and evaluate the future options you can assist us by letting us know if you would consider enrolling in a glass qualification of one, two, and/or three years duration or a three year applied arts degree.
