Course Description

The study of art history offers a key to understanding the evolution of civilization and the development of human creativity. As a discipline, art history encourages appreciation of individual works of art and instills a vivid awareness of the social and historical context in which these works were produced. The B.A. in Art History major requires 36 credits. Complete major requirements are available in pdf below. Please see Admissions tab on left for entrance requirements and instructions for adding the major. Students may consider adding another major or minor to complete the B.A. in Art History. All students must complete university General Education requirements, a foreign language proficiency through the 1202-level, and have a total of 120 hours to graduate. Students who only complete the B.A. in Art History (without a second major or minor) often need to complete some elective credit hours to meet the 120 total credit hour requirement.
