The Access to HE Diploma in Humanities and Social Sciences is an intensive programme of study. It will equip you with the skills, experience and qualifications to go on to study a range of higher education courses in the humanities and social science areas that can then lead to careers in education, the community and other sectors. You will follow a common core curriculum and three more options according to your choice of pathway, guided by your tutors. Currently options available are, black history, British and European history, contemporary social issues, economics, English language, English literature, psychology and sociology. The core course provides you with the underlying skills you need for study. These include reading, essay writing, note taking, presentation, research skills, use of statistics and some IT skills. It also provides tutorial support which may take the form of a group session or one-to-one support. All students will be allocated a personal tutor.
