Course Description

The Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting (PGDA) programme acts as the pathway which enables students to pursue the Masters of Science in Accounting (MSA) in the US conferred by Henry W. Bloch School of Management, University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC). This programme is designed for students with little or no undergraduate accounting coursework. It provides comprehensive coverage of accounting topics necessary for a professional career in the field. Completion of the programme also qualifies students for the various examinations leading to professional certification. This programme is equivalent to stage one of the University of Missouri- Kansas City Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) degree. PGDA (or Stage One of MSA) identifies prerequisite accounting and business courses that provide the foundation for the Stage Two courses required for the Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) degree. Stage One courses may be waived based on equivalent undergraduate coursework taken as part of a bachelor of business administration degree from University of Missouri - Kansas City or equivalent programme. For applicants with TMC Higher Diploma in Business (with specialisation) and/or University of Gloucestershire degree (with specialisation) may be granted further exemptions in the PGDA and need only to study the relevant subjects (see comparative table of modules) to complete the PGDA qualification. The Stage Two courses can be completed at UMKC in one year. Upon completion of MSA degree, graduands will be eligible to sit for the Uniform Certified Public Accounting (CPA) examination anywhere in the United States. DiplomaBusinessAdministrationMarketing Application Procedure Delivery Lectures, tutorials and independent learning will be employed. To make sure that students have a clear understanding of the concepts, tutorials will re-emphasize the key areas. Independent learning involves students taking the initiative in recognizing learning requirements and undertaking activities to meet them. These activities could take the form of research, tutorial exercises, review questions and coursework.
