Aviation Maintenance Management Technology A.S

Course Description

SPC offers the Aviation Maintenance Management Technology A.S. degree through a unique partnership with the National Aviation Academy in Clearwater. Students have two options for earning this degree, which gives them a foundation for management positions. If you are already certified under the Federal Aviation Administration in the Aviation Maintenance Program for Airframe and Powerplant Technology, subplan A gives you the college courses to succeed in management. The Aviation Maintenance Technology program, offered at the NAA, includes 56 hours of instruction and practical training in the maintenance, repair, inspection and troubleshooting of different types of aircraft. You take the remaining finance, management and general education courses at SPC. Subplan B prepares you for FAA certification in Airframe and Powerplant Technology, while rounding out your college education. This FAA certification path has been approved by the state of Florida. This plan includes 36 hours of courses taken at NAA and 36 hours of general education courses and 11 hours of finance and management courses at SPC.

Career outcomes

This program prepares students for employment as aircraft mechanics, aircraft maintenance supervisors or aviation maintenance managers. Graduates will be eligible to pursue FAA certification as airframe and powerplant mechanics and will be trained to troubleshoot maintenance problems and supervise mechanics in the aviation industry. This program also provides supplemental management training for those who are already certified or were previously or currently employed in this occupation.
