This program combines the breadth of knowledge of the Administrative Assistant program with the specific knowledge of the Legal Assistant program. Administrative Assistants and Legal Assistants perform a variety of administrative duties. They are employed in offices throughout the public and private sectors. Legal Assistants are required to have understanding of the vocabulary and processes of law. They must be capable of handling administration duties. They handle and format legal correspondence such as deeds, wills, affidavits, and briefs. They also review and proofread outgoing documents and correspondence to make sure that the documents agree with legal procedures and grammatical usage. A typing speed of 50 to 65 words per minute may be required for employment. Graduates of this program qualify for an Administrative Assistant diploma and a Legal Assistant Accelerated diploma.
