The Bachelor of Arts in Music Education program is based on the idea that the best way to prepare students to become great music teachers is to constantly place them in actual teaching settings alongside outstanding veteran music educators. The core of the music education major is a six-semester fieldwork-based course sequence taught by David Bresnahan, a 35-year veteran of the NH public schools. Students will have at least one teaching experience and one related music education lecture each week. This six-semester sequence will cover as wide a variety of music teaching situations as possible. SNHU has established partnerships with a variety of local school districts and outside music organizations that will allow for these constant hands-on experiences.

This program is approved by the New Hampshire State Department of Education for Teacher Certification as leading to an initial teacher's license or endorsement in New Hampshire. Southern New Hampshire University cannot guarantee licensure, certification, endorsement, or salary benefits.
