Course Description

Do you have a passion for fashion and want to learn more about the business of beauty? Southampton Solent is the first university in the UK to offer a beauty promotion degree and this innovative course focuses on developing you for a career within the global beauty industry. You’ll learn a diverse range of skills, including multi-platform journalism, styling, marketing, PR, advertising and trend forecasting, with an opportunity to specialise as you progress. Students will learn advertising, PR and creative marketing skills, specialising in the beauty industry. Students have access to industry-standard teaching facilities at the dedicated media academy, as well as hair, make-up and photography studios. Voted as one of the top creative universities in the UK, Southampton Solent’s collaborative culture means past students have worked on exciting projects with other students from fashion design, hair and make-up courses, as well in areas such as photography, film, television and music. Students can get involved in unique retail opportunities via the University’s student-managed high street fashion store, Re:So. The degree is built around practical insights into the beauty industry and past students have had the opportunity to go on site visits and attend lectures by prestigious guest speakers. The course has strong industry links and past students have benefitted from live project and work experience through the University’s in-house creative agency, Solent Creatives. The University’s close proximity to London has allowed previous students to attend industry events including London Fashion Week and Graduate Fashion Week. Students are taught by a team of experienced academics who have extensive experience in the fashion, beauty and media industry professions.
