Accredited by ACCA, CIMA and the ICAEW this unique accounting and finance degree provides exemptions from a number of professional bodies to give you a head start in the profession. On this course you'll gain knowledge of a broad range of areas relating to the field such as auditing and taxation, corporate finance, company law and economics. Employability On this course you'll develop a wide range of employability skills through the emphasis on a vocational approach to teaching, including student presentations, group work and Sage/computer skills. You'll graduate from this course feeling confident stepping into a wide range of roles in industry such as equity analysis, derivatives trading or foreign exchange. ACCA Exemption This course will give you full exemption from the ACCA Fundamentals level, allowing you to work as a part-qualified accountant in public practice, industry or commerce. If you sit your exams for the ACCA Professional level (which you can sit at LSBU), you will be able to apply for a place on our MSc Accounting with Finance. Academic progression If you graduate from this course, you will also be able to apply for further study at postgraduate level, including for a place on our MSc International Accounting and Finance or MSc International Finance. (Please note that these two MSc courses are not linked to the ACCA Professional level.) The academic strength of the BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance course means that you can also consider entering the field of academic research. Career in accounting One of the most popular jobs on graduating is to go on to train as a chartered accountant. There are many different directions to pursue, specialising in financial reporting, taxation, auditing or forensic accounting. They provide professional advice, aiming to maximise profitability on behalf of their client or employer. Strong analytical skills, a developed understanding of business and good mathematical instincts are all necessary key skills. Although accountancy has four large firms: Deloitte LLP, Ernst & Young, KPMG and PwC, there are many small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) which provide plenty of opportunities on graduation, such as professional training and development. Recent graduates from this course have gone onto jobs such as: Accountant Assistant, Personal Banker, Financial Analyst, Payroll Assistant and Graduate/Trainee Accountant. Salary you can expect Graduates entering accountancy can find starting salaries in the region of £23,000 - £24,000, with the potential for salaries to increase rapidly with further qualifications and experience. Senior chartered accountants can expect to earn up to £100,000.
