3D Practices

Course Description

Performance Art is occasionally explored within this concentration. A 3-D student will also gain a fundamental understanding of how mass and volume can be created through both a process of reduction and addition. The essential power of contact points between different forms and materials will also be explored. Traditional sculptural principles are used within a more up-to-date use of materials and a contemporary understanding of 3-dimensional practices in Fine Arts as well as personal and cultural contexts. New dynamic practices with hard and soft materials are used, as well as an integration of electronic media. At times, students are asked to participate in areas of exploration that have not yet been clearly defined within the arts- new territory is delineated by the students with ambitious projects.
