The syllabus of the NEBDN Certificate consists of: the duties & role of the dental nurse, reception, clerical & administrative duties, anatomy & physiology, dental anatomy & physiology, pathology & microbiology, causes & prevention of dental disease, sterilisation, instruments & equipment, dental drugs & materials, restorative dentistry, minor oral surgery, orthodontics, anaesthesia, emergencies, dental radiography, health & safety at work act and now a Record of Experience (RoE). The RoE must be fully completed prior to applying for the National Exam. I.E: For a November diet the RoE must be completed by early June. For a May diet the RoE must be completed by early January.

This course prepares candidates for the Diploma in Dental Nursing examination set by the NEBDN, for either of the two written examination diets of November or May, and then, if written paper is passed the OSCI's (practical exam) in January or June respectively.
