Course Description

The programme will help students to develop skills that are transferable to other areas of study and professional employment. It will also continue to develop critical, analytical problem-based learning skills and the transferable skills to prepare the student for leadership and management. This programme will enable the student to engage in lifelong learning, study and enquiry and to appreciate the value of education to societ. Career outcomes

The course will enable students to meet the Scottish Social Services Council Lead Practitioner standard. The programme will be available on a part time basis with entry at level 3 (SCQF level 9) This programme aims to enable practitioners to meet the Standard for Childhood Practice 2007 it will develop critical, analytical problem-based learning skills and the transferable skills to prepare the student for a leadership and management role in the children’s services or related work and enable the student to engage in lifelong learning, study and enquiry, skill in reflective practice based on research and to appreciate the value of education and care to society. This course will assist the student to develop the skills required for both autonomous practice, leadership and team-working, help to examine the construction of childhood and adolescence from the perspectives of developmental psychology and sociology and develop an awareness of the multi-disciplinary nature of services for children and their families and the influence of government policy on the nature of public services
