Your path to an exciting academic or industrial career in biomedical science begins here with Purdue’s Department of Basic Medical Sciences. The Department of Basic Medical Sciences (BMS) combines the personal attention of a small department, with a unique breadth of training. BMS offers graduate study leading toward a master’s degree and a doctoral degree. The department also offers a combined degree/dual degree option for students in the of DVM professional curriculum. Because of its size, the BMS graduate program is ideal for students who wish to do their graduate work in a department that allows time and opportunity for individual attention and a close student-advisor mentoring relationships. Opportunities are available for combining teaching in the professional DVM curriculum with dissertation research. This combination of research and teaching experience helps create a highly employable graduate, especially for those who are considering careers in academia.
