BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies

Course Description

​This highly innovative 3 year course takes an interdisciplinary approach to the study of Early Childhood. By drawing on disciplines such as social psychology, sociology history and philosophy, the course will prepare you for a career within the Early Years sector. You will gain a solid foundation in the theory of Early Childhood Studies: a basis which will allow you to progress into occupations in Education such as Social Care, Community Work, Research, Psychology and Management. You will have the opportunity to identify and develop your own special interests by taking option modules, working in a variety of settings and travelling. The course is delivered through a variety of seminars, lectures, workshops and placements, providing you with a detailed understanding of work with young children and their families. Paired with opportunities to study modules abroad and take on Work Based Learning which can confer your ‘license to practice’, you will become experienced and accomplished in all aspects of this exciting and rewarding field.

This course offers excellent preparation for a wide range of professional occupations including health care, social work, teaching, community work and management of nurseries, services and centres.
