In the AS year, topics are organised into 6 themes The Human Form Landscapes and Natural Forms Still Life and Designed Objects The Built Environment Machine Age and Abstract Art Contemporary Media in Art Students are required to produce a coursework portfolio in one of these six areas and also complete a controlled assignment. In the A2 year, students will produce a personal investigation examining the social context of art, and how art or design is presented to the public as buildings, public sculptures, paintings in an exhibition or functional design items. There will also be a controlled assignment. Teaching and Learning Styles The subject is delivered through lectures and written assignments to develop skills of critical analysis, covering cultural, historical and social contexts.
