Creative Writing

Course Description

Students working toward a bachelor's degree or minor in creative writing practice extensive study of literature along with the craft of writing. Our obsession is literary art: immersing ourselves in it, understanding it and creating it. Pacific's workshop courses are small, intensive and geared toward the practice of craft. With the guidance and support of our writing professors, students write extensively, provide critiques of each other's work and perfect the art of revision. Creative writing students assist in editing and publishing two magazines. * Silk Road Review, an internationally recognized literary journal. * PLUM, Pacific's Literature by Undergraduates Magazine, which publishes the winners of Pacific University's Writing Competition, held every spring. Prizes are awarded in the areas of literary scholarship expository writing and creative writing.
