The BA in American Studies focuses on the interdisciplinary study of American culture. Majors acquire many of the same skills which are gained in a traditional humanities or social science major, most notably analytical abilities and strong writing. Students gain the ability to make connections between diverse fields and subjects, a capacity for self-direction, and the ability to apply their skills to a variety of contemporary professional fields including: government, economics, social work, education, journalism, business, psychology, law, digital and print media, non-profit work, theater and the arts.
