What courses are available? AS SINGLE AWARD is made up of 2 AS units. In the upper 6th you may then complete another 2 units to gain a single A Level. AS DOUBLE AWARD is made up of 4 AS units. In the Upper Sixth you may complete another 4 units to gain two A Levels. You will learn about the health, social care, children and young people and community justice sectors. AS topics include: Effective Care and Communication; Understanding Health Conditions and Patient Care Pathways; Life as a Challenge and Educating Children and Young People. A2 topics include: Practitioner Roles; Diagnosis, Treatment and Preventative Strategies; Understanding Mental Disorders and Food and Fitness. You will learn through a variety of different teaching and learning methods. There will be group work and role-play activities as well as individual assignments. Case studies will be used to place the learning in a meaningful context.

Suitable for vocationally orientated students, wishing to pursue a career in any of the health, social care or early years professions. The course is particularly relevant for those planning to enter nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy, teaching, social work or jobs allied to medicine.
