Course Description

Graduates of the Electrical Techniques Program gain basic knowledge of electrical functions within a controlled electrical environment. Graduates have demonstrated achievement of vocational learning outcomes which relate to trade practices under the supervision of a qualified person. The program introduces a range of skills, knowledge, and attitudes required by graduates in order to gain a basic understanding of the electrical field. Graduates of the program have had exposure to a number of electrical functions, such as assisting in the installation, testing, maintaining, and repairing, analyzing and troubleshooting specified electrical circuits, equipment, and systems, under the supervision of a qualified person. Graduates have a basic understanding of the principles and will need much more theory and practical hands-on training to be safe and productive in the electrical industry. This program introduces a number of common skills, knowledge, and attitudes essential to entry-level employees in the electrical field. Graduates may choose to write the Level I apprenticeship certification exam.
