Course Description

The Psychology major is suitable for students who wish to learn about principles of human behavior and experience. The major provides students with a broad understanding of psychological theories and applications. Psychology attempts to answer questions such as: Why do people suffer from mental illness? How do people deal with emotions and stress? How can we optimize communities and workplaces for well-being? How does personality change across the lifespan? Students will find the training ideally suited for preparation for graduate work in psychology or for work in human service careers upon graduation. The program also prepares students for advanced study in management, personnel, social work, counseling, education, the legal system, and other areas. For applied psychology experiences, students can enroll in ENG 350 to attain credit for an internship-like experience.
