Bachelor of Art in Design: Animation and Interactive Media

Course Description

The undergraduate program in Animation + Interactive Media gives students a strong foundation in art and design principles as well as technological systems to work in a variety of digital mediums and environments. Students learn principles of storytelling, sequential imaging, motion graphics and other time-based methods to become strong and compelling visual narrators. The program in Animation+ Interactive Media follows a sequence that increases in complexity of technical facility, storytelling and compositional style as they progress through the program. Students follow their First Year Experience with two comprehensive Art + Design sophomore studios (ADN202, 400) that addresses relevant principles of art and design in: form, composition, conceptualization, idea generation, critical and creative thinking and identifying a personal design process. After the sophomore studio, students are directed into their focus area, and take studios that introduce them to principles of storytelling, animation, and character design through Sequential Imaging, Introduction to Animation and Digital Modeling. In their senior year, students are able to apply these principles to more interactive and non-linear storytelling environments and experiment with new technologies in Digital Media-Special Effects, Digital Motion and Animation Seminar.
