This course considers the way in which businesses operate and the effect of the external business environment. The emphasis is on the strategic importance of clear objectives, in particular, how the business environment provides opportunities and imposes constraints on the pursuit of short-term and long-term objectives. This course is studied within the context of local, national and international constraints on business structure, objectives and environment. Actual language in use is analysed. Full-time students study this subject in combination with other AS/A Levels. You will study AS over one year. A2, taken in the second year, makes up the A Level qualification. Textbooks are provided for class use and loan. The library has a good selection of books and other materials. IT material is on the Business Studies section of the College Blackboard Virtual Learning Environment (NCD Online). Students provide their own pens, file paper and files.
