This course has been designed to give mature students the skills and knowledge necessary to progress to a higher education course. Most students progress to degree courses at local universities, including the Universities of Durham, Northumbria, Teesside, Sunderland and Newcastle. The course however is recognised for access to degree programmes at all UK universities.

This course is recognised throughout the country as an entry qualification for degrees and many professional courses. In other words, successful students will have the required qualifications to apply for higher education courses. During the past few years, Access students have progressed to over 40 degree programmes at 15 universities.
