Course Description

The Crime Studies programme will encourage you to develop critical and analytical skills enabling you to appreciate the society in which you live and how crime and social justice agencies influence the individual and society. Education Studies in Combined Honours focuses on aspects of the history, sociology, philosophy and psychology of education.Placement options There is no compulsory placement but you will have the opportunity to undertake relevant work or volunteering. This work can form part of a level 5 unit of study. This course provides a foundation for postgraduate courses in teacher education and other related fields, however it does not lead to Qualified Teacher Status.

Opportunities may exist in the established agencies of the criminal justice system (for example, the police, prisons and probation services).You could progress onto a PGCE in primary or secondary teaching, or pursue a career in counselling, coaching, learning support, or social work. Graduates find they are highly valued by a variety of professions in the wider education and social care sectors that value critical thinking, analytical and evaluative skills.
