Course Description

An online course designed to explore every facet of the food and wine tourism experience. Students with internet access and a passion for gastronomy and tourism will be able to study this course from anywhere in the world, networking with like-minded individuals and studying topics including contemporary trends in cuisine and culinary arts, food writing for media, festival and event planning and design, the history of gastronomy and the restaurant, small business management, sustainable food production and tourism business, marketing food and wine tourism and food and drink in literature, art and film. This course, delivered online in association with Southern Cross University, is designed to support and enhance understanding of the gastronomic tourism experience and to study all facets of how food and drink interconnect in our lives… that’s agriculture, economy, health, politics, sustainability, cultural traditions, social values and more. ‘Food’ is simply a brilliant way to study the world, cultural difference and history, while at the same time learning how to give pleasure and to increase our own sense of satisfaction. Importantly, the degree focuses on the relationship of food to tourism and the role this relationship plays in the development of regional economies and their sustainability. In addition,, students also get the added benefit of studying management, marketing and other industry-focused subjects, within a hospitality and tourism context.
