BA (Hons) Advertising and Marketing

Course Description

You will learn from senior academics with wide experience in international companies and advertising agencies. We also have guest speakers from some of the UK’s top advertising, marketing and design agencies and in-house communications teams. Your degree programme will give you a working knowledge of advertising and marketing practices, including a firm grounding in brand strategy, digital marketing and advanced consumer behaviour. Your course includes a real life advertising research project for an advertising, design or media agency or client company. In your first year, you’ll study a core first-year module, which provides a rigorous introduction to key concepts and techniques in marketing and two options of your choice from other departments around the university. In your second year you’ll move on to core subjects including Marketing Research; Advertising; Digital Marketing; Marketing Simulation; Marketing in the Supply Chain; and Consumer Behaviour in your second year. In the third year, your core subjects include Strategic Marketing, Brand Strategy and Integrated Communications. You will also have the option to transfer onto a BA in Advertising and Marketing Management in your second year, dependant on satisfactory performance. This option includes a year’s work placement with integrated reflective learning. This degree scheme is for students who wish to focus on advertising, communications, digital and branding aspects of Marketing, but want to spend their third year working in an agency or a marketing organisation.
