As the health care system in Canada evolves, the demand for personal support workers is increasing in health care facilities, retirement homes and home care settings. The personal support worker assists clients with daily living needs including personal care, meals and household management. Students are provided with the knowledge and skills to observe and respond appropriately while working in this profession. Fundamentals of Hospice Palliative Care Certificate, Gentle Persuasive Approaches Certificate and Non-violent Crisis Intervention are offered in this program.

Personal Support Workers are employed in community home care, long-term care homes and hospitals. They work under the supervision of professionals according to a plan of care.
