Course Description

A chemical engineer is skilled in the development, design, construction and operation of industrial plants in which matter undergoes a change. The chemical engineer is versatile and well grounded in the sciences of chemistry, physics and mathematics, but also knows when to apply empirical engineering know-how to solve problems. Chemical engineers are involved in the manufacture of such commodities as synthetic fibres, plastics, fertilizers, detergents, salts, foods, pharmaceuticals, resins, petroleum products, and pulp and paper. Chemical engineers interact with natural resources and the environment through their involvement with environmental protection, development of less polluting processes and in the management of energy.
