Course Description

Studying German will expand your knowledge of the German culture and improve your employment opportunities. The program provides insight into a region that plays a vital role in central Europe's intellectual and economic life and cultural history. German is both the most commonly spoken language in the European Union and after English, the second-most used scientific language. There are three major tracks within the German Bachelor of Arts in German Studies program at Kutztown: Communication and Culture, Interdisciplinary, and PA German Culture in America. A Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education in German is offered in addition to two minor programs. All of the programs in German Studies are administrated through the Department of Modern Language Studies.

Career outcomes

A Bachelor of Arts in one of the German tracks will prepare you for a career as an interpreter, translator, or for work in the government, media, business and the travel industry. Students who complete the requirements for a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education will be certified to teach German in grades seven through 12.
