Missiology

Course Description

What do the first and one hundredth Baptist missionaries to Japan, fourteen of the first forty Protestant missionaries to China, and Molly, who is currently serving in Southeast Asia, have in common? They were all equipped to live out their purpose as students at Judson College. Religious Studies majors at Judson have the option to choose an academic emphasis in Missiology, which is the study of missions theory, strategy, history, and practice. Missiology students combine the courses required for all Religious Studies majors with special classes that help them understand other religions and cultures, teach them how to effectively address poverty and human need, and help them further explore God’s call to missions in their own lives. The Religious Studies major and Missiology emphasis provide an excellent academic background for students who are interested in serving on the mission field or on a church staff, working in the nonprofit sector, or pursuing theological education at the graduate level.
