Course Description

The Chemistry Program at Judson College is designed to prepare students for health career opportunities in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, clinical laboratories, allied health professions, and entry level employment. Chemistry majors have been exceptionally successful in obtaining their academic goals over the past four decades. Dr. George C. Williams, Chemistry Department Head, presents lectures and conducts laboratories. Students are encouraged to obtain assistance with course work from students in higher level Chemistry courses. Dr. Williams also holds study sessions each week, one for each class. Chemistry majors demonstrating talent and aptitude in the area are often invited to work as laboratory assistants in the department. Qualified students may participate in undergraduate research at a medical school, at a university, or at a similar program in industry. Any original research can be used for an Honor’s Project at Judson. Dr. Williams offers help to juniors and seniors who are studying for the Medical College Admissions Test. Chemistry majors and minors are encouraged to participate in the Science Club and are advised to join in numerous community service organizations on campus and in the local community. The personal attention given to students and the well-organized academic and career counseling provided in the Science Division and Chemistry Department are reasons that science students achieve remarkable success. Many of our recent graduates are in professional programs at a variety of schools, including The University of Alabama at Birmingham, The University of South Alabama, The University of Alabama, Baylor University, University of Tennessee, University of Florida, Auburn University, Emory University, and Samford University.
