Course Description

The Art Department at Judson is an exciting place to be. On any given day you may find students stretching canvas, welding on a steel armature, or developing prints in the darkroom. You may also find students working late into the evening on their charcoal drawings or oil paintings in Mead Hall. Art majors at Judson get to know one another in a way that is not possible at larger colleges and universities. The small classes and individual attention given to our students makes for a more engaging learning experience. Areas of Concentration: Drawing Painting Sculpture Color and Design Photography Printmaking Art History Graphic Design Web Design Art majors at Judson will be prepared to work with many different types of tools, media, and equipment. Students will focus on traditional technical skills in their foundation courses and concentrate more on conceptual aspects in the upper level studio courses. Each major will participate in a senior exhibition of their artwork in a professional gallery setting. Graduates will be prepared for working as professional studio artists or to pursue further studies at the graduate level. With a liberal arts degree, creative abilities and problem solving skills, an Art major from Judson is prepared for just about anything. Want to see recent Student Artwork? Visit HERE!
