BTEC Level 3 Certificate/Subsidiary Diploma in 3D Design

Course Description

3D Design is aimed at students who enjoy creative problem solving through the conceptualising of ideas and realising of practical solutions. In doing so a broad range of specialist design skills will be developed together with an in depth knowledge of both materials and processes. The emphasis is placed on the practical exploration, realisation and testing of ideas. Students, within the framework of the units covered, are encouraged to explore their own interests whilst taking into account the needs of the consumer society. Students will also be given the opportunity to take part in a CAD award through Autodesk that can count towards University applications in terms of UCAS points alongside their studies. The course provides a natural progression for those who have studied Graphic Products or Product Design at GCSE level, though students can also embark on this course with qualifications in Art & Design, Graphic Design and Engineering. The course provides those who wish to pursue a career in design with the opportunity to progress into Product Design Industrial Design, Furniture Design, 3D Design, Architecture, Construction, Design Management, Teaching and Design Engineering.
