AQA AS Archaeology (L3)

Course Description

Archaeology is about studying humankind's past through the investigation of material remains. By studying where people lived, what they ate, what they wore and even how they died, you can put together a picture of societies throughout the ages. There are so many skills involved that you'll find archaeology a fascinating area of study. There's art (like using decorative styles of pottery to identify where they made things), technology (like carbon dating), geography (understanding the lay of the land in times gone by), history (known events, like wars) and classical civilisation (understanding past people and cultures). In AS you will cover two units - Religion and Ritual and Archaeological Skills/Method. On A2 you will take a unit in World Archaeology and complete an Archaeological Investigation. For a detailed break-down of these units search “ Archaeology ” at www.aqa.org.uk .
