Course Description

Year one 1. Law Making and the Legal System 2. The Concept of Liability Year two 3. Criminal Law - 1 4. Criminal Law - 2 & Concepts of Law Course Content: AS Level Students will cover the following subjects: Law Making: Delegated Legislation, Statutory Interpretation, Judicial Precedent Legal System: Civil Courts and Other Forms of Dispute Resolution,Criminal Courts and Lay People Introduction to Criminal Liability: Underlying Principles, Courts, Procedures and Sentencing. Introduction to Tort: Liability in Negligence, Courts, Procedure and Damages. Course Content: A2 Level Students will cover the following subjects: Criminal Law 1: Murder, Manslaughter, Non Fatal Offences Against the Person, Defences & Evaluation. Criminal Law 2 & Concepts of Law: Theft, Robbery, Burglary, Blackmail, Fraud, Criminal Damage, Making off Without Payment, Defences, Law and Morals, Judicial Creativity, & Law and Fault.

Law is useful not only for budding lawyers but is also relevant to all sorts of professions (e.g. accountancy, sales and human resource management), whether or not you plan to go to university. The Institute of Legal Executives gives an exemption from the Law aspect of its Part One course if you have an A-Level in Law.
