This course is designed for those people interested in the Beauty therapy Industry who wish to learn the craft of cosmetic and therapeutic treatments, customer care, self -confidence and professional outlook which will enable them to progress onto a full qualification in NVQ or a vocational related qualification in Beauty, spa, massage or Holistic therapies. The course is continually assessed by practical work in a realistic work environment and by theoretical testing, oral questioning and assignment projects. Full time students receive Functional Skills delivery, participate in the Personal Tutorial programme and have the opportunity to take part in activities which aid personal development. Exemptions from tests and some sessions may apply dependent on existing qualifications and age. This section does not apply to part time students / programmes. General Beauty Therapy Route - Facial skin care; lash and brow treatments; hair removal by temporary methods; nail care (hands and feet); health and safety; promotion of products and services; team work; make-up Each student group will remain together as one cohort and attendance is generally over 3 full days in college. There is a choice of student groups to attend at this level to suit personal need. Enrichment Industry based workshop sessions and visits to Trade Shows will incur additional costs during the year.
