BA/BA (Hons) International Business with Language (Subject to Approval)

Course Description

In today's global environment, employers expect graduates to have an international perspective, to understand how business operates with customers and suppliers around the world, and how they are affected by events in other countries. By choosing a degree in International Business with Languages, you'll gain a solid foundation in business and management together with a recognised foreign language competency that will position you well for a career in international business. Along with a broad understanding of business and the society in which it operates, you’ll develop essential leadership, management and communication skills to excel in the global market. GCU offers Spanish, French, German and Italian at levels from Introductory (little or no prior knowledge), Preliminary (standard grade or equivalent or pass at introductory level), Intermediate (higher/advanced higher or equivalent/pass at preliminary) right through to Professional levels. You'll start your first language in year 1 at the level that's right for you and then in year 3 you'll add a second language. If you wish to have a named degree in BA International Business with Language, you will need to choose BA (Hons) International Business with Language on application to GCU via UCAS. At the end of your first year, you’ll have the opportunity to change your area of specialism to Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management, Economics or Law or you can choose to study BA (Hons) International Business as a standalone subject.

Graduates of BA (Hons) International Business with Languages are prepared for a wide range of business roles within UK, international and global organisations. Recent graduates have gone on to work for Iberdrola, the parent company of Scottish Power, the European Civil Service; and in the areas of international finance in banks such as Santander, international retailing with companies including Marks and Spencer, Aldi and Lidl, as well as multinational corporations like Mars, BAE Systems and IBM.
