Bachelor in Visual Arts(Film and Video)

Course Description

Study on our Lincoln Center campus for an in-the-thick-of-it experience just steps from the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim, the Museum of Arts and Design, and the many galleries lining the streets of Chelsea. Or head uptown to Rose Hill—just a short train or Ram Van ride away—where the Visual Arts Complex has a beautiful sky-lit studio space with terrazzo floors and a state-of-the-art computer lab. Studios and computer labs at both campuses are available to students when classes are not in session, including weekends, evenings, and summers. Our Film and Video courses balance creative production with discussion about history and aesthetics. You will work with Super 8 and 16mm film as well as digital files in creating experimental, narrative, or documentary films. Lighting, digital editing, sound design, and image manipulation are all explored in production courses. You are encouraged to find your own voice as an artist creating short works in film or video. For their Senior Projects, students can complete a film or video for screening at our Lincoln Center campus, or use moving images as part of an installation in our galleries. Our concentration’s biannual Fordham Student Film Festival allows students at all levels of their educational careers to screen their work to a broad audience.
