Bachelor in Visual Arts(Graphic Design)

Course Description

Study on our Lincoln Center campus for an in-the-thick-of-it experience just steps from the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim, the Museum of Arts and Design, and the many galleries lining the streets of Chelsea. Or head uptown to Rose Hill—just a short train or Ram Van ride away—where the Visual Arts Complex has a beautiful sky-lit studio space with terrazzo floors and a state-of-the-art computer lab. Studios and computer labs at both campuses are available to students when classes are not in session, including weekends, evenings, and summers. The Graphic Design concentration will introduce you to the basic principles of design and typography. Our courses examine the discipline from a critical, social, historical, and theoretical perspective, with an emphasis on how typography and design engage, inform, and challenge the viewer. Through assignments, internships, visits to professional design firms, and a final Senior Project, our students gain practical experience and develop their own creative voices.
