Bachelor in Visual Arts(Painting and Drawing)

Course Description

Study on our Lincoln Center campus for an in-the-thick-of-it experience just steps from the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim, the Museum of Arts and Design, and the many galleries lining the streets of Chelsea. Or head uptown to Rose Hill—just a short train or Ram Van ride away—where the Visual Arts Complex has a beautiful sky-lit studio space with terrazzo floors and a state-of-the-art computer lab. Studios and computer labs at both campuses are available to students when classes are not in session, including weekends, evenings, and summers. In the Painting and Drawing concentration, you’ll learn traditional and modern technical skills and how to apply them in the service of creative expression and growth. Stressing theoretical and historical concerns, our courses focus on a range of approaches both figurative and abstract. Students who undertake a Senior Project complete a body of work for exhibition in the galleries at Lincoln Center in their final year. Many of our graduates go on to master’s programs in fine arts. Others pursue careers in fine arts and art-related fields such as design, communication, advertising, teaching, art therapy, arts administration, and marketing.
