BA/BS in Mathematics

Course Description

The mathematics department provides the right blend of theory and application for now, next year, and always. The major prepares students for graduate studies or employment in many quantitative fields. A student may prepare for teaching high school mathematics by selecting the math-ed option. (Students interested in this option should consult with the department advisor as soon as possible, preferably before the start of classes). As a BS student in mathematics, you take at least 13 classes, including two from the physics or computer science departments. There are two tracks: Pure Mathematics Applied Mathematics We also offer: Math education program leading to a master’s degree in teaching in five years Interdisciplinary mathematics and economics major, offered in partnership with the economics department
