Course Description

The study of History is both interesting and rewarding. We cannot fully understand today’s society without an understanding of the past. The analysis and interpretation of history provide an essential context for evaluating contemporary events, politics, and cultures. The modern history course provides a unique insight into human nature and human civilization. While offering the rigorous academic programme, we also help our students develop the individual skills of analysis and self-motivation which are so valued by employers. The course will concentrate on modern History from 1700 to the present day and will include courses on the approach of historians as well as the study of a range of themes, periods and countries. Topics include the study of Britain in the nineteenth Century, twentieth-century totalitarianism and a study of economic history.
