Course Description

This course will enable graduates to register as primary teachers with the Teaching Council of Ireland Teaching is a highly skilled and challenging activity - it required expert knowledge, but also the ability to apply that knowledge flexibly and to adapt it quickly to new situations. Teachers must be able to handle unexpected events in the classroom and to use these imaginatively to promote learning. We will give you the opportunities you need to develop your subject knowledge your understandings of how children learn how schools work your classroom management skills. Garda vetting has been introduced for students who have unsupervised access to children and vulnerable adults as part of their studies at Dublin City University. Applicants must successfully pass the Garda vetting process in order to complete the process of registration. All BEd students are required to complete a Health Status Information Form indicating whether they have any significant ongoing illnesses or disabilities which might adversely impact their capacity to meet programme requirements. Individuals will not be excluded on the grounds that they possess a particular condition or disability if it is deemed likely that it would be possible for that person to fulfil the requirements of the course with reasonable accommodation(s).
